The Reflecting Pond in the main building of the Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore is under the revolving statue of Icarus created by British artist Andrew Logan. The Pond is in the curve of the large stairway that leads to the third floor, and is about 17 feet wide and 6 feet across. A mirror bottom is covered with a myriad of designs in mirrors. The outer ridge is about 6 inches high and is made of paired 1/4 inch double mirrors, more than 6,000 pieces. Since its installation in September 2005, the Pond has been a "work in progress" but now (2007) is virtually complete. Below are pictures of construction of The Pond and some of the detail. |
